 As recipients of the Nobel peace prize in 1947, Quakers are now able to make a nomination each year to the Nobel peace prize committee in Oslo. The Oslo committee then makes the decision about who will receive the peace prize, taking all the nominations into account.

Peaceful Schools conference
24 June 2016, Friends House, London
A national conference for primary schools is taking place at Friends  House on 24 June. ‘Learning Through Peace’ is aimed at head teachers, deputy and assistant heads and school staff involved in  social and religious education. School governors and others who  support or work with schools are also welcome. Please promote the conference.

Human rights monitors needed in Israel and Palestine
The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) is recruiting for volunteers to live in the West Bank and East  Jerusalem for three months during 2017, working as human rights monitors.

Friends of Hlekweni Secondary Bursary Scheme
Over 700 students have been supported through secondary school by  the Zimbabwe Secondary Bursary Fund, run by Zimbabwean Friends  and supported by British Quakers for over fifty years. The need is huge – the scheme helps really promising students who would otherwise have to drop out after primary school. The Friends of Hlekweni are seeking your support to enable children to continue their schooling.

Accompanying – for 15- to 18-year-olds coming to Yearly Meeting 2016
27–30 May 2016, Friends House, London (non residential)
Accompanying is a non-residential offer for 15- to 18-year-olds (born between 1/9/1997 and 31/8/2000) at Friends House in London during Yearly Meeting (YM). It includes attendance at YM and optional social activities outside of session time. Anyone can come to YM – however, to participate in Accompanying individuals need to book in advance.
